Artist
George Palmer Visits the Gallery
May 24, 2005

Ever since acquiring this intriguing painting of an anonymous
young woman, Roberta had wondered about her identity.
The subject captivated viewers with eyes that seemed so real
they almost followed them across the room. But who was she?
Roberta's questions were finally answered when two of Roberta's
guests Mary & Elaina DiAngelo visited the Gallery. Upon seeing
the painting, they proclaimed immediately 'That's a George
Palmer'! As it turns out, George had become somewhat of a
family friend to them over the years painting over 15 portraits
for their family.
George Palmer,
a resident of Buffalo NY, visited the gallery
in person on May 24th 2005 for a lovely cocktail reception and
exhibition of his work. George brought with him unique and
memorable works of art and a portfolio of pieces he had been
commissioned to paint including portraits for James Whitmore and Lucille Ball.
The DiAngelos accompanied him & Elaina filled the gallery with several lovely opera pieces
to compliment a lovely evening.
The portrait
that brought George to Columbiana is called 'Portrait of Min'
and was painted over 40 years ago in 1964. George was
delighted to be reunited with his painting after all this time.
A commissioned work of art, 'Portrait of Min' was made to help a
group of students remember this intriguing exchange student that
they all loved.
This work and other works by George Palmer
including portraits are available through Roberta's Gallery of
Fine Art. |
