The Twelfth and Thirteenth Centuries in Europe were termed the “Golden Age of Stained Glass”. But the art of colored glass faceted with lead all but died until the late eighteen hundreds. During the turn of the century, a revival of the traditional art of stained glass swept America and new designs, glazing techniques and even new types of glass were introduced by American glass artists such as Louis Comfort Tiffany, George Hardy Payne, Richard Spiers and others.

Roberta's Gallery of Fine Arts has acquired a rare collection of original hand painted stained glass designs. These original works of art were designed by the Payne-Spiers Studios of Patterson, New Jersey, one of the leading stained glass studios of the revival period. The collection is made up of original hand-painted stained glass design miniatures on board that include religious, decorative, memorial, military and historic subjects.

The Entire COLLECTION has been photographed for the Corning Glass Museum and several major pieces have been acquired by museums, architects and collectors. Each one-of-a-kind original combines egg tempra, watercolor and ink on paper with a shellac finish to achieve the illuminated quality inherent in each design.

This truly historic and remarkable collection of original stained glass paintings is available exclusively through Roberta's Gallery of Fine Arts in Columbiana, OH.
